Utility Service Payment Assistance - 211 LA
The program provides assistance once per year to help low-income households reduce energy consumption and/or help pay energy bills. The total household monthly income must not exceed 60% of the State Median Income (SMI) and households must not have received LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) assistance in the current program year. Recipients of CalFresh, CalWORKs, or SSI are automatically eligible. Households can receive a one-time payment for gas or electric utility bills (for LADWP, Southern California Gas Company, Southern California Edison, or Bear Valley Electric accounts) to prevent service disconnection, restore service, or pay a delinquent bill. Rental deposit assistance (first month's rent security deposit) may also be available after an energy payment has been made. The program serves residents of Los Angeles County. Some areas served include Long Beach, Los Angeles, Pomona, Lancaster, and the San Gabriel Valley. The program is administered through multiple agencies throughout Los Angeles County. To apply, contact the specific community action agency in your area or call the general information number (800) 438-4636.
